How it happened
A week before the engagement Amee decided to go to New York City to visit Matt for President's Day Weekend. Matt went into work on that Friday and Amee worked from the hotel room all day. When Matt came back from work, he told Amee that he had been upgraded to a suite and that they gave him the keys to go check it out. Amee, knowing that getting upgrades is a pretty normal thing for frequent travelers like Matt, did not see why it was such a big deal. So, Amee continued to get ready, thinking they were just going to go out to get some pizza. However, Matt kept insisting that they go upstairs to check out the suite, but Amee would not move any faster. Finally, an hour or so later, Amee was all packed and ready to go upstairs to check out the suite. Matt had arranged for the suite to be set up with flowers, candles, champagne, and chocolate covered strawberries. Once completely inside the suite, we were just talking and all of a sudden Matt got down on one knee and pulled out the ring. All Amee could do was stare at the huge ring...and so Matt had to ask again.
